A Dream Including 5 Dogs

I only have two dogs.

Sometimes I have weird dreams, especially when I go to sleep feeling exhausted or stressed. In my latest dream, I got lost in an unfamiliar city but reunited with my five dogs.
In case it's helpful, below are the main points covered in this post:
Lost in a Strange City
I walked out of a convention center after attending a day of conference presentations and demonstration sessions. As I said farewell to other attendees I met, one asked if I wanted an Uber back to my hotel. I politely declined, stating that I knew my way back.
Unfortunately, the path I knew to take back to the hotel was blocked due to construction work. I figured it would be easy to make my way around it, but I got lost in the process.
I called my Dad to let him know I was lost and would get back later than expected. He offered to pick me up and asked what street I saw. Before I could tell him the street names, my phone died.
I kept walking with hopes of finding my way back to the hotel. Everyone I asked for directions were unfamiliar with the large city and could not direct me anywhere I considered familiar. After a few hours of walking, I sat on a city bench to rest.
Reuniting with My Five Dogs
An SUV parked in a nearby parking lot. Dad stepped out and called me over. I was so relieved to see him! When he realized I was alright, he said we needed to get the dogs.
However, two dogs were already in the SUV excited to greet me. Lucy, my large German Shepherd mix, and Nicholas P. J., a tricolored medium-sized dog mix, attacked me with kisses as I sat in the passenger seat.
Dad drove and parked at a 7-Eleven store. I calmly told him that I wanted to get to my other dogs before stopping somewhere. He said the kind manager offered to watch them while he and the two dogs searched for me.
Dad, the two dogs, and I headed inside. Rascal, my chihuahua terrier mix, and Willow, a purebred long-coat dachshund, greeted me immediately. I was grateful to be reunited with them, but there was one more dog I did not see.
The manager greeted me and said the dogs were very well-behaved. I asked about my other puppy to which she replied that he was sleeping. Dad called for Maximus, a large, fluffy black bear-looking dog.
After a minute, Maximus casually came out from the back room. Once he saw me, he ran (but slowly) to greet me. My heart felt full and complete with my five dogs surrounding me. I sat on the floor and gave each an absurd number of hugs and kisses.
My Reality
I only have two dogs: Rascal and Lucy. The other three were a figment of my dream. So, why did I dream of having three more dogs?
After a quick search online, dreaming of happy dogs is a symbol of happiness and positivity in life. This makes sense because since I have minimized contact with my narcissistic Mom, I have felt overwhelmingly peaceful.
In fact, I believed my being lost in an unfamiliar city dealt with a recent situation where I started to hesitantly change my solo travel plans after Mom insisted on joining me.
Since I was traveling out-of-state to attend a family event, I initially hoped that Mom wanted to ride with me and stay at the host family's house. But she insisted on staying with me.
Even though I was not going to ask her to pay for any part of the trip, she argued that the dog-friendly hotel I reserved months ago was too expensive and too far away (at ten miles) from family.
For days, Mom demanded that I changed everything originally planned for the trip. She threw a temper tantrum when the accommodation she wanted in a different city was unavailable.
I stood up for myself, for the first time in years, and decided to stick with my original plans. I offered Mom join me at no cost to her, but I wanted to set ground rules and clear expectations for when I was available to take her places. (I am her chauffeur when we are together.)
Unfortunately, Mom refused to travel with me because I was too selfish to consider her needs and wants above my own. As a reminder, this was originally planned as a solo trip with my dogs. Knowing her, she will change her mind the day before I planned to depart from my home.
In a way, I felt lost about how to cope with the dread of traveling with a family member who insisted on tagging along on my solo travel plan. I felt relieved and happy once she decided not to go with me!
Before bed, I watched a video about Max the dog being added to the game Disney Dreamlight Valley with this week's update. The name Maximus was most likely a nod to Max the dog. I do not know why he looked like a large, fluffy black bear.
Willow may be a nod to a real-life dachshund named Delilah. I watched several Crusoe the Dachshund's videos after learning about his retirement, so I imagine it influenced my dream and secret desire to have a dachshund puppy. I do not know why the dog in my dream was named Willow.
Nicholas P. J. looked like my friend's dog, Milo. I must have looked at a photo or drawing of Milo not long before my dream. Milo is adorably cute, so I can see why I dreamt of having a Milo-looking dog.
The name Nicholas P. J. is a mystery. Why did I dream of having a dog with a full first name and two middle initials? Your guess is probably better than mine!
What's Next?
It is weird that when I dream of my pets, I always dream of having more than the two already in my life. For fun, I will research the breeds I dreamt of (if I can figure out what breeds Maximus and Nicholas P. J. are) to learn more about them!
