For 2024, I made myself one main objective to focus on and several wishes that I would like to complete, but would not be upset if I did not get to them.

In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:

Short Update On My 2023 Resolutions

Last January, I shared My 2023 Resolutions through this website. I started the year thinking optimistically with one main goal in mind.

I never once thought about my resolution after writing it down. However, I had to puppy-proof my house after adopting my girl, Lucy, in mid-February. Since I had to make changes around the house anyway, I went ahead and converted an unused room (or more accurately a hoarding storage room) as a dedicated craft room.

A dedicated craft room was a great idea, especially with the growth of my creative YouTube channel! It is a great space for me to clear my mind and focus entirely on creative projects.

The craft room also happens to be one of my puppy's favorite room in the house. Lucy watches me craft and sometimes tries to help. Late last year as I made sublimation tumbler gifts for family, Lucy tried to help me move gift boxes and gift paper from one area to another. Technically, Lucy moved everything away from me and onto the dog bed across the room, but I was grateful for her helpful attempts anyway.

I also made myself three minor wishes/goals for 2023 that I never completed:

  • Sell art/craft creation(s).

  • Go on a trip/vacation.

  • Reduce hoard collection.

Since I felt like my 2023 resolutions were overall successful, despite not completing the minor ones, I decided to make myself one main objective and several minor wishes/goals for the new year.

My Main Objective

I had two goals in mind at the start of this year. I briefly thought about making myself two main resolutions, but I decided to keep with one main objective to give myself a greater chance of successfully completing it.

This year, I plan to re-organize my walk-in closet. Currently, it is small part closet and large part storage with no logical organizational structure. Since I am the only one who uses the walk-in closet (no significant other to share the space with), I tend to toss things I do not want Lucy to get a hold of.

I still want to store important documents, family photos, and memorabilia (professional awards and plaques, cherished childhood toys, old VHS home video tapes, etc.) in the closet, but I need to do so in a way that it is does not appear cluttered or piled in the back corner.

Organization is not my strong suit, but I am confident that I can and will get this done well after successfully completing my dedicated craft room.

Four Wishes/Goals

There are four other things I want to do, but it would not upset me if I am unable to pursue or complete them. Since these are not a major focus for me this year, I decided to label them as wishes/goals that I want to do:

  1. Go on a trip/vacation with the dogs.

  2. Continue with training Lucy to hopefully become a "canine good citizen" (or close enough).

  3. Make my own low-content book that I could self-publish via Amazon KDP.

  4. Paint on a large (to me) canvas.

No Reminders This Year

Last year, I dedicated space on my journal page to remind myself to do more of something, less of something else, and learn something new. This year, I decided to exclude that from my journal page. I will, however, still plan to do these things for myself.

This year, I hope to:

  • Do more fun outdoorsy things with my dogs.

  • Do less self-loathing.

  • Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop features efficiently.

What's Next?

If in another week I do not believe I can complete my resolutions, I can always take part in Ditch New Year's Resolution Day on 17 January.
