What if Dogs Started a Bowling Team?

Based on a random convo with my friends about our dogs.

Recently, I asked my friends, "If [our dogs] were on a bowling team, who'd be the team lead? What would be their [team] name?" I thought I would share some of the things that came up in our random conversation.

In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:

The Team Name

I love bowling! I even encouraged one of my friends to join my bowling team seven years ago. Ah, good times!

On the seven-year anniversary of my friend and I joining a bowling team, I wondered what mine and my friends' dogs would do if they formed a bowling team.

I asked, "If [our dogs] were on a bowling team, who'd be the team lead? What would be their [team] name?"

One of my friends immediately responded with a "Howling Good Time."

I could imagine that as our dogs’ team name! I was also happy to get my friends engaged in a discussion. Daydream 'what if' type of discussions are my favorite to participate in.

For fun, I got to work on a team logo. The logo is not great, but it is not the worst logo I designed. Fortunately, my friends seemed to like it.

With the logo done, I referred to my friends’ discussions about our dogs' roles in the team to create some trading cards in honor of National Trading Card Day (February 24th).

Lucy

One friend thought "Lucy might be the one that gets together because they want to be with their friends but not bowl." While I can imagine her enjoying the company of her friends, I can also imagine her enjoying the game, but on her terms.

Lucy is play motivated and would probably focus most of her attention on the game. Since she is stubborn and rarely listens to directions/commands, I can imagine Lucy as the one bowler who does not care about bowling etiquette.

For the "bowling highlights" that I added to the back of the fake trading cards, I noted that "she prefers lofting the ball at the pins opposed to rolling it down the lane."

Milo (Team Lead)

One friend imagined Milo as "the young professional trying to make it a career." In this case, it makes sense to me that Milo would be the team leader to ensure the team follows the rules and bowls their best while having fun.

This may mean Milo would spend much time in the bowling alley practicing. He would enter many regional competitions in preparation of making it into the 'big league.'

For the "bowling highlights" that I added to the back of the fake trading cards, I noted that "he is a passionate young bowler who aspires to join the Professional Doggie Bowlers Association."

Lazlo

One friend suggested that Lazlo and Lucy are "the crazy (possibly drunk) kids that have no idea what they're doing but TOTALLY having fun." I can definitely imagine that.

Like Lucy, Lazlo seems to be play motivated. His person says he can play fetch for hours without issue. This tells me that Lazlo is an easy-going dog who just wants to have fun!

For the "bowling highlights" that I added to the back of the fake trading cards, I noted that "he does not hesitate to "fetch" the ball down the lane and into the pin deck."

Rascal

What is funny to me is the only input my friends had to say about Rascal was that he "is the eldest." That is true.

Rascal is the oldest team member who is antisocial and lazy. He also hates loud noises and high energy. He would hate bowling! However, he would join the team to keep an eye on the others.

For the "bowling highlights" that I added to the back of the fake trading cards, I noted that "he is only on the team to make sure his 'little' sister does not make a complete fool of herself."
